A Little About Each Of Us

The Lemelson-MIT program has really influenced what I want to do after high school. Before this program I had no idea what I wanted to do, but now I am learning a skill that will benefit me greatly after I graduate. After this program I aspire to become a writer. Being the media liaison has given me the opportunity to be published and increase my writing skills. I do not believe that the Lemelson-MIT program can comprehend how much it has actually impacted me.

The InvenTeam has made me consider getting a job engineering or manufacturing things from carbon fiber. I really enjoy doing those things and learning how to make parts and eventually a final product out of it. It also has given me good work ethics and how to think critically, and is teaching me good communication skills and how to cooperate with other people.

The InvenTeam is like a second family to me. They are true friends, and I know they will be there for me. It has also impacted me and influenced me to want to go bigger when it comes to helping people around the world. I am still not sure if this is the kind of thing I want to do with the rest of my life, but I am seriously considering going to college for this. And this is definitely something I love to do now as a hobby. I mean I get to help people, hang out with my friends and I get to build stuff. I am also learning so much, technically. I have always been interested in cars and mechanics, I just never knew how to explain or understand technical stuff. I now know how an active leaning suspension works, what Bondo is, and a ton about carbon fiber. Every day is a learning experience and it is never boring or dull. Our team is a lively bunch of great people who have learned to adjust and change as needed. We have all become closer on a personal level, and we enjoy learning together. I feel that what we are doing may change the world, even if it is on a small scale. That small bit can impact more people than you may think.

Being a part of this InvenTeam has really helped me develop my character and inner strength. I've learned and am still learning various new skills that are going to be the key for my future up ahead. The InvenTeam has motivated me to step out of my comfort zone and become a risk taker. I've been taught to not follow the same road thousands have already walked through before. I've gained skills to become a leader and have the ability to work on my own. Two of my main tasks that I am solely responsible for is the InvenTeam's financial reporting and representing us well through this blog that I have created. Before this InvenTeam, my dream was to become a lawyer. However, I'm not so sure anymore. Being a part of this InvenTeam has truly inspired me to continue on into the engineering filed for my future. Additionally, most of us don't have class period to work on this project. We stay after school late nights and sometimes on Saturday's making sure we're getting things done and not falling behind. Instead of dreading work days, I actually look forward to them. I look forward to seeing my team, which is now like my family. Sure we mess around with playful jokes but we always get tasks complete. We know that when crunch time hits, that we need some seriousness. Before, I didn't know any of these people. Well except for Elli, she's my best friend. However, now it's normal to hang out with everyone because we've all come so close.

Being the student leader of the Lynden High School InvenTeam has affected my future immensely. Since middle school I have loved to draw up and build stuff, and this experience has pushed me to be an engineer more and more. Now I plan on attending Bellingham Technical College for their mechanical engineering course and their precision machining course. I hope to one day build a couple of the ideas I have floating around in my head and become a millionaire. This project has changed my life for the best and I am honored to be a part of it.

I think being on the InvenTeam has had a big effect on my future plans. Ever since I had taken Dave's Rhino class, I knew I wanted to pursue CAD design. I think that I am probably going to pursue engineering or maybe a hands on job in the same field.

My future plans have always been to be a business owner. Being on the InvenTeam has made me realize that I also want to help out foundations and people in need. I am a people person and I love helping people with anything I can. The InvenTeam just showed me how students who had never seen or talked to each other have in couple of months became like family! If one of us needs help or is upset we are here for each other and that is what I love about our team.
